Thank you, everyone, for a great first meeting of 2010. I felt the Spirit in the room with us, and know that God was pleased with how we carried out His work.
Britt, I like the way we began by asking the question, "Where do we see God working in our Church?". Set the tone for the rest of the meeting. And, even the reports seemed to be about things that were for building the Kingdom or ways the Kingdom was being built, instead of just the normal info flow.
I look forward to where we go from here.
The first lesson on our Nine Lessons Study is "Become Satisfied with Never Being Satisfied". I am guilty of worrying too much. I am also guilty of never stopping to smell the roses and enjoy the scenery.
There is so much beauty to our world and to what God has given to us to experience here. My prayer is that we don't miss it and that we come to peace and contentment with the fact that nothing will ever really be "done". But, we keep "pressing on" as Paul says, trusting that each step is blessed by God.
Thanks for all you do, my friends.
Grace,
Shane

I enjoyed your comment about stopping to smell the roses and enjoy the scenery.
ReplyDeleteI just finished lesson one and signed on. What a joy. Here's my sequence of events. 1. I completed the lesson, 2. It provoked me to watch one of my favorite videos, and 3. I signed on the blog to comment.
The video was Rob Bell's "Everything is Spiritual." Rob lectures for 1 hr/17 min on creation, the universe, God and humankind's place in the grand plan. It's a must see video; if you haven't seen it let me know and I lend you my copy. You will truly appreciate the meaning of "Awe and Wonder" -- and hopefully will learn a life lesson about stopping to smell the roses.
Blessing to all, last night was great!
Yours in Christ,
Jim
Lesson 3 - Simplify. I find the older I get the more simpler my life becomes. Things I thought were important are no longer. As time condenses so does the way I want to spend it - this is largely due, I'm sure, to slowing down and allowing God's wisdom to sink in. Have a blessed day. Paula
